Best Friends of Visually Impaired

A smart phone with special applications is more than a friend and guide to the visually impaired. A blind person is unable to read what appears on the mobile screen, instead he can listen to the sounds that come out of the micro-speakers of the phone. So with a software that can transform the words to sound ,the person can understand any message that comes through the phone. That is the reason why JA Foundation initiated a new charity program "Thilakkam" 5 years ago. Ours was the first organisation that supported visually impaired with smart phones Later on , Kerala Govt. followed suit and has issued phones to nearly 1000 people.

On Tuesday 9th Feb. '21, Foundation distributed 30 phones to the visually impaired living on the Northern part of Kerala. This is the second time this year that we conduct " Thialakkam", the first one being at Alappuzha in the second week of Jan.'21 . A third program will be conducted at Thrissur very soon for the needy at the central part of Kerala. Thus, altogether JA Foundation, by now, has distributed 400 phones among the visually impaired
