Joyalukkas Group Announces ₹15 Crore Project to Build 250 Homes for Kerala Flood Victims

Thrissur: In a significant step towards rebuilding flood-affected Kerala, the Joyalukkas Group has announced a ₹15 crore housing rehabilitation project to construct 250 homes for families who lost their houses in the unprecedented floods that devastated the state.
The initiative will be implemented through the Joyalukkas Foundation, the Group’s philanthropic arm, with each house being built at an estimated cost of ₹6 lakh. Chairman Joy Alukkas stated that the project reflects the collective support of the Group’s employees and numerous well-wishers worldwide. Director Jolly Joy Alukkas affirmed that the Foundation is committed to ensuring the timely and quality completion of the homes.
Each house will have a built-up area of approximately 600 sq. ft., comprising two bedrooms, a living-cum-dining area, kitchen, sit-out, and a reinforced concrete roof to ensure safety and durability. In the worst-affected regions, construction will be undertaken in harmony with the local environment, following consultation with expert architects and in accordance with approved building plans.
The Chairman further informed that the project proposal has been submitted to the Chief Minister and will be executed in coordination with local self-governing bodies to ensure transparency and proper implementation.
Families who have lost their homes due to floods and landslides may submit their applications at the nearest Joyalukkas showroom. Applications will be carefully reviewed by a committee constituted by the Joyalukkas Foundation in consultation with local authorities. A list of eligible beneficiaries will be finalized after completing the required governmental formalities, following which construction will commence with the objective of expediting completion and handing over the homes at the earliest.
This large-scale rehabilitation effort underscores the Joyalukkas Group’s enduring commitment to restoring hope, dignity, and stability to communities affected by natural disasters.
