Joyalukkas Foundation Launches ₹2 Crore Medical Aid Initiative for 1,000 Cancer Patients on World Cancer Day

Thrissur, February 4: In observance of World Cancer Day, the Joyalukkas Foundation has launched a ₹2 crore medical support initiative aimed at assisting nearly 1,000 cancer patients across the state. Under the programme, essential medicines worth ₹20,000 each will be distributed to beneficiaries, offering crucial financial relief to underprivileged families battling the disease.

The initiative was officially inaugurated by Dr. Niji Justin, Mayor of Thrissur Corporation, in the presence of renowned actress Mamta Mohandas as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Joy Alukkas, Chairman of the Joyalukkas Group, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to standing by cancer patients and their families during their most challenging times. He also announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art hospital facility in Thrissur dedicated exclusively to pediatric cancer treatment, further strengthening specialized healthcare support in the region.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Oncologist Dr. Chithrathara K, Joyalukkas Group Director Jolly Joy Alukkas, Fr. Julius Arakkal CMI, Dr. Benny Joseph, and Reena Joby.

Established in 2009 with a vision to bring marginalized communities into the mainstream, the Joyalukkas Foundation has consistently undertaken impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives across India. Its healthcare interventions include financial assistance for dialysis patients, provision of free pacemakers for heart patients, and various medical aid programmes. Beyond healthcare, the Foundation has constructed over 500 “Joy Homes” across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, and continues to support the education of numerous children nationwide through its “Joy of Hope” scholarship programme.
This latest cancer care initiative further underscores the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development and compassionate community support.
