Vision Care, Edamalakkudy

The Joyalukks Foundation organized a comprehensive social welfare initiative in Edamalakudy, recognized as Kerala’s first tribal panchayat. Driven by our commitment to uplifting marginalized communities, the Foundation spearheaded a multifaceted program that focuses on vital health and wellness needs. This initiative brought essential healthcare services and clean drinking water facilities directly to the tribal residents, reinforcing our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission to make a tangible difference in remote and underserved areas.
The major highlight of the outreach was a free, specialized eye care camp tailored for the villagers. Medical professionals conducted detailed eye examinations for the residents, addressing various vision-related concerns that often go untreated in isolated communities. After the thorough checkups, free spectacles were distributed to those in need of vision correction. Furthermore, for individuals requiring advanced medical intervention, the Foundation announced partnerships with hospitals, ensuring long-term vision health for the community members.
Recognizing the critical importance of safe and accessible drinking water, the foundation also took significant steps to improve the region’s public infrastructure. We successfully installed advanced water purification units across key community centers in Edamalakkudy, including the Panchayat Office, the Primary Health Center (PHC), the Vana Samrakshana Samithi (VSS) office, and the local school. The program was inaugurated by Panchayat President M. Binu in the presence of senior CSR officials from Joyalukkas Foundation; this initiative stands as a testament to our dedication to creating sustainable, healthy environments and improving overall quality for tribal communities.
